a little bit of zen in japan

by Ken Paterson
(Edinburgh Scotland)

Temple in Kyoto Japan

Temple in Kyoto Japan

I have been a photographer for over 15 years. I have said to a friend many times, "All I want is to see two old ladies standing in front of one of my photographs saying ..isn't that nice..." He does not like this. Where is the profit motive? Do you not value your creativity more highly than that? Well no, I don't. To bring a little happiness into an observer's life through my creativity is reward enough. Not to ignore the need to pay the bills, but to find meaning in my inner journey and its expression through outer creative product. Finding out that I am an HSP explains a lot. My creativity, my desire to please, and my non-commercial stance, at last a measure of meaning and peace....

beautiful
by: Kerri

I love this picture! I adore the koi at the bottom of the picture and the way the water makes a faint ring around the reeds. So lovely. I am a photographer too and I know how you feel about your work. I just want to give some beauty back to the world.

Coming Home
by: Carol, Scotland

I've just stumbled upon this excellent site and find myself feeling more validated, emotional and both thrilled and relieved - it's like 'coming home to myself' and it's wonderful to know there are so many of you out there! My struggles with the world suddenly make sense. The beauty of art, colour, music etc can easily move me to tears (and yes, photographs too Ken - its beautiful. Thank you for sharing this and I hope you'll post some more).

Thank You It's Beautiful
by: Dionne

My dream is to go to Japan and live there for 6 months, just taking pictures and enjoying the sites, sounds and beauty that is so unique to Japan, with my digital camera. I know exactly how you feel about your work because I too wish only to share my pics, not so much make a living from it. Your picture is so beautifully composed, down to the back of the koi in the lake. I believe both our desires and dreams will come true and I am so happy to have seen your work and read your words. Keep snapping!

Simply Stunning
by: Anonymous

Simply stunning. What more needs to be said? I am a minimalist at heart. Why use so many words (I can do that too!)when "stunning" says it all?
