Hidden musician?

Well, unortunately, I am not a musician by trade right now. Currently, I am a business person in the rat race and I don't know anything about music in the technical sense. I know I have a hidden ability because I can tune-up guitars and I can tell when someone makes a mistake while playing. Furthermore, while I sleep I dream a lot and do so with music. Sometimes I wake up thinking I should know how to write it but again, I haven't done any formal studies in music. During my up-bringing I was told that if I devoted my life to the arts I would starve. Wrong. I rather starve happily. Anyway, I do have an exit plan but it has to be a slow plan because I am already 37 with a family that relies on my income, which is 1/2 of our total family income.
While in business school I had the opportunity to take maybe 4 piano lessons and the instructor really thought I took lessons before, but I kept telling her that was my first time. So I have "cues" about this ability but I don't know the degree of my gift or ability, so I don't know how successful I could be if I devote entirely to it. But I will obtain the answer to this question, sooner or later.
