Job Jail

by Reen
(Ontario, Canada)

I am 40 years old, have worked in several Management roles at 4 different places over 20 years. I have been working in Finance my whole career. In my current workplace, we went through a Change of Ownership 2 years ago and I took on the role as General Manager managing over 70 employees. This was a very different role for me and different company. The previous owner was so kind, and we had a nice family atmosphere which is great for a HSP. He was so intuitive and was very aware of my sensitivity. Working with the new Company has been horrifying. Everything is about work, working 50-60 hours/week, no gratitude. I have been ridiculed for my sensitivity in working with HR issues. Apparently, they would rather have someone cold & harsh to work in HR. The whole experience has been very negative for me. Through this whole experience I have discovered HSP and understand myslef better. I have quit my job with nothing to go to right now and I feel like I got a Get out of Jail card. I am looking for a job now based on my sensitivities where I can be myself.

Get Out of Jail...and Reclaim Your Life
by: Lisa

Reem,
What you have done takes a great deal of courage and strength. Sometimes we hold onto toxic jobs far too long out of fear -- fear of losing job seniority, financial security, or other reasons. However, no job is worth losing our peace of mind and health. I hope you are able to find something more compatible with your HSP and your desired work-life balance.

Lisa
