My Cat knows me so well

by Little S
(Southampton England)

I only discovered this week that there are High Sensation Seekers, who seek out novel sensations.

I have a nervous cat, who would be very anxious and skit away from me, yet he would sit and relax with my partner.

I decided to give the cat some healing, just placing my hand on his head and sent him some love.

Well, he was a different cat after that, however, sometimes he comes and sits with me and can't seem to get enough, other times, he runs away from me in fear.

I now realise that it is all to do with my state of excitement, when I am over stimulated my energy must be too strong for him. This has really helped me to understand how to control the stimulation to manageable levels. It stops me from feeling exhausted.

My cat shows me what level of excitement I am in and I can calm down, which is what I need. It also means he gets a lot of calm loving!

HSP cat...
by: Angela

My female cat is most definitely an HSP, herself. Perhaps your kitty is as well? Lovely read. Thank you. =^..^=

So Fond of Felines :-)
by: Erika Harris

Hi Little S.,

Your post makes me smile. It reminds me a lot of my my relationship with my kitty. I rescued him from a shelter 9 years ago. He was terrorfied of touch and any close contact, really. I committed to loving that problem away. I named him "Taavi" (Hebrew for "dearly loved"), and blasted him daily with pure love energy from my tone of voice, my eyes, my heart. Within a few months, like your precious kitty, my guy couldn't get enough. He'd force his head into my hand... his big (18-pound) body onto my lap... regardless of what I was trying to do at the time. LOL. Love totally turned that formerly abused boat around.

And also, like you, I notice that he is often MORE aware of my energy-level and mood than my (wonderful) boyfriend who is sometimes just clueless... when compared to my super-smart four-legged... who is possibly also HSP :-)

Isn't it the best thing, how they can make us want to purr?

Warmly,
Erika
